unleash your super power
Listening is a super power.
The majority of individuals think they are good listeners but I would argue that the majority of people are very, VERY, poor listeners.
In sales in particular, being a truly good listener differentiates high performing sales professionals and mediocre ones.
So given the importance here is a list of suggestions I have as they relate to listening:
1. Listening is a full contact sport. It involves every part of your body. Think eye contact, posture, nonverbal gesture and facial expression.
2. Be fully present. This means your mind needs to be on what the other person is saying and NOT what you are going to share next or in response.
3. Be curious. You may think you understand what someone has shared with you. The truth may be very different. We all have our own experiences and vantage points that shape our realities. This means we communicate differently and misunderstanding happens often. So check and ask questions to be sure you truly understand.
