appearances

Today threw me back to early in my career. Working in a male dominated industry, I was on countless occasions the young lady in a room of seasoned professional men. It was intimidating to me, to put it mildly.

Back then, my confidence definitely wasn't what it was today.

Despite knowing I had value to add to conversations, it was hard for me to speak up.

I had a secret trick. I thought when I looked more studious I was taken more seriously. So, I'd put on my glasses instead of my normal contacts if there was a really important meeting.

Today, I don't need these tricks to confidently and authentically share.

What I realize is more interesting is that the glasses probably didn't impact how my audience reacted to me when I was younger. The way I thought of myself and therefore how I approached the conversation is what really mattered. It was my MINDSET.
