take monday back

Monday mayhem....

It doesn't have to be that way.

Why is it so often the way it is portrayed and for that matter experienced?

I think the answer is quite simple. Change of routine. If throughout the course of your weekend, you broke what is your weekday routine, those subtle changes cause disruption on Monday when you must return to the routine.

So what's a person to do?

I suggest taking this approach (consider these tips from a Mom of two young boys who needs to be able to get everyone back into weekly mode without skipping a beat).
1. Awareness - acknowledge verbally starting mid day Sunday that tomorrow is back into the routine
2. Acceptance - know that the transition won't be perfect but it is manageable when expectations of perfection are dropped
3. Prepare - anything you can do on Sunday to make the week kick off a bit easier make sure to do (eg. food prep, completion of some needed tasks in advance, organize)
4. Mindset - develop a Monday motivation (identify something that you will look forward to at the end of Monday to celebrate the kick off of a good week)
